HISTORY AND FEATURES
1938 FORD DELUXE STATION WAGON
Owner,
Dave Carlson. Second owner since 1962 when purchased, was last licensed in
1949, 79,000 miles. This car has all the original Maple wood and body
metal, emblems and hardware are all new old stock that are no longer
available or reproduced. I first restored the car in 1965 where by the wood
was completely striped and refinished, after having the car running for as
many years. In 1988 I took 3 years in completely rebuilding the car that
was completed in July of 1991. At that time the running gear and chase was
blue printed and fabricated to accommodate a 1980 Corvette independent rear
end assembly and a Mustang II front -end kit with mid-size Chevrolet
calipers and rotors. To give four wheel power disk braking system.
The 1961 Corvette engine complete with steel billet
crankshaft was blue printed and balanced. New 8.5 to 1 forged pistons,
Roller rockers with J14 center line crane cam shaft was specified to
accommodate the 1961 Rochester fuel injection that was completely
hand-polished and flowed to this engine developing 300 HP at 4800 RPMS. At
this time, this motor has 10,000 miles. The 350 Turbo Hydromantic
transmission complete with Shift kit and 2500-RPM Stall Torque converter
were supplied by TCI.
The complete wiring system is new as shown in the
photos. Other features include polished stainless steel custom battery
box. Custom AM-FM Cassette radio with six speakers. Custom Eagle air
conditioning with custom remote condenser system. Shown in photo's custom
Griffin Aluminum Radiator for superior cooling. This is truly a one of a
kind car that runs every bit as good as it looks. A spirited yet very
comfortable ride with operational safety and exceptional reliability.
This car that everyone that sees it loves over the
years of showing this car at the Pismo beach car shows with over 800
entries. I have won 3 First place awards, 2 Second places and one best of
the show with an additional 10-15 First Place trophies at other car shows
throughout the state of California.
I have
documentation of over $22,000.00 in receipts to build this car and know for
a fact to buy a Woodie of this caliber and build it. You couldn't do it for
what I am asking for it. I will be more that happy to answer any questions
a prospective buyer may have, as I am the builder of my car.
